I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer in May of 1998. I was fortunate enough to be referred to UNC Chapel Hill and have Dr. Linda Van Le perform my hysterectomy. This was followed by seven weeks of radiation and numerous check ups. Dr. Van Le was also my mother’s oncology doctor. Mom’s cancer was too far spread when diagnosed and only the symptoms could be treated. Mother passed away one week prior to my first radiation treatment. Later, in November of 1999 during one of my check ups with Dr. Van Le, she asked if I had the time to have a chest x-ray. Two days later I was told that I had lung cancer. In January of 2000 I had lung surgery and again was blessed in that I did not have to undergo any other treatments. Because of Dr. Van Le’s attitude, her foresight and her dedication I am alive today. I owe her my life. When my husband and I count our blessings, we count Dr. Linda Van Le twice.
